A czech guy named "staney the robot man" who lives in prague build this little synth. It's completely handmade and consists of a bunch of analog circuitry that when powered creates strange oscillations in current. It's also built into a seseame street toy saxophone. This set sounds like a robot talking. If chopped up and sequenced you could do a lot with it.

A "bigmack" switch being operated, giving a distinctive click. This sound is recognisable to users of single message aac communicators. (aac: augmentative & alternative communication). Equipment: zoom h4n, internal mics.

Hypnotic machine sound composed of a repetitive clicking noise backed by a loud, complex hum. Mic is repositioned several times during the recording, changing the relative loudness of the hum and click components.

When my band was allowed to record after-hours in an industrial space in west oakland, i took the opportunity to show up early to record some of the machines in action. This is a recording of an industrial embroidery machine as it sews on logos to eight sweatshirts. Unfortunately my recording of the glass etching machine in another part of the building didn't turn out as useful--it sounded pretty crazy. Field-recording factory machines.

This is a very lowfi recording of a xerox workcentre 7345 in a very small room being switched on from standby and initializing, including some button presses with beeps, mechanical movement sounds and motors. The bitrate is only 13 kbit/s and the resulting audio quality not very good, but the file size is really small. Maybe audio level needs normalizing, though.
